Fall days come hither

Shipping these pieces out to our beautiful Canadian stores, and states of Louisiana, Texas, New York and North Carolina this week. Top to bottom Georgina shirt over Slip Short in tangerine Morris voile; Diedre Jacket over Angel dress in rose pink; Evolution shirt over Slip Short in Garden Grenadine; Rose Pink Suzana jacket shown in rose pink, Raw slip in heavy weight linen, and our infamous Prairie Slip dress, shown over bubble and petticoat skirts.

As I watch thee leaves on your limbs turn to tangerine, grenadine and rose, the northern breeze slips through stirring the air and the clouds. I seem to bubble back and forth and my slips wave freely as if to say hooray, change is near and change is always good. Dreamy fall days come hither and I will smile a small smile knowing I am dressed for thee.

Vintage Appliques

Vintage Applique shown here on Smug Shirt

I am loving our little vintage ladies.... We have several vintage lady faces they are sewn onto linen squares with a little tulle. Then appliquéd onto the Sweetie Top and the Smug Top as shown above. It all washes well, and comes out yummy and wrinkly as above!

Ivan Grundahl

He is definitely one of my inspirations! I only like his later years 2010 through now. His new summer 13 collection is a gorgeous concoction of linen, silhouettes and color. He's works in neutrals most of the time so this is a new thing for him... The above is a typical Grundahl look, and below the new 13 collection. Perdy!

From the earth and the sea...

Linen

Georgina Shirt
The linen I work with is so beautiful. This shirt is in a lightweight 3.5oz and a gorgeous width so we can make the dresses all in one big piece! Fun fun! Of course the edges are left raw however we finish inside and stitch where necessary so the whole garment doesn't unravel. The neutrals in the linen pieces work perfectly with the brights in the voile and Prairie dresses. Mixing, layering, add some strands of Victorian love and whalah... we have a look! See the site, we've updated and adding all of the time. Long linen jackets and a full frilly slip in black linen were completed today for an upcoming meeting in NY!!! Wish me luck!

Evolution

Prairie Collection
I have had a busy few weeks as usual. Also loads of reflection in molding my couture collection. The linens are gorgeous by the way! A frilly frock from the Spring 2013 collection in rose pink linen, won THE BEST DRESS AWARD as I walked through the floors at the Atlanta Gift Show! No kidding, a woman in her booth walked right up to me and stuck a POST IT NOTE on my shoulder! {Needless to say I never met this woman before}, she said "I award thee the Best Dress Award!" And all her neighbors in their booths hoorayed and clapped! So cute! Yes this is what happens at market! Such lovely people.
Anyway, and yes the dress got loads of compliments. So goody! Well, after the Atlanta show, we met up with Kev's dad and step-mom and we picked up the twins who'd spent a whole week in Florida with them! And we drove home. I am not a car person! Road trips and I do not jive!!! And I sketched all the way home. Glad to have my kidlets with me again.
And saturday evening I rolled around in bed and dreamed of a dress using my textile prints. I woke all tusseled and a mess, Kev brought me coffee as he usually does, and looked at me sideways! "What's going on?"
Well, after the coffee was down, a quick check on what's happening on Pinterest and my tumblr project and I was off, up the stairs into the studio! And the dress above was the result in an hour or so! I then laundered it to put all the wrinkles in and scrunch it all up! I love it. It's the beginning!

I'm serious! I am off and running! Today we are making up a bunch of these for the fall markets in NY. I am meeting with a new national sales rep who I am very excited about, and can't wait to see how the Spring 2013 collection finally comes together. Of course with the linens and solids, but also injected with this messy mismatched look that may just be a new signature! Or evolution of the line!

I designed another today, and cant wait to see it made up! I want it now I tell you! We'll post more pics as soon as possible! hehe!

I send you love and kisses this summery day!

Soup Dish Collection

Soup Dish

Actually it's a small bowl collection - My jewelry features very old pieces as focal points from 1900s turn of the century, loads of 1920s art deco pieces and cabs, brooches and more, so we are constantly getting collections from estate sales and vintage shops, among other amazing sources... But as I personally scout I also seemingly always come away with small little bowls. This one is a recent purchase and now holds aquamarine stones. Julie is making this one - isn't it gorgeous? (One on the right?)  So the jewelry studio is now filled with these little bowls and we use them to place the stones, findings and bits and bobs we use to make each necklace or earring...
Hope to see you this August in NY!
